On the west coast of an island, Arran on the Machrie Moor lies the standing stones, a small ancient circle that is protected by a stone wall, there are small white boulders which lie to the right of the path, then further down on the left are several beautifully mysterious tall red stones.  little is known about these stones and the other stone circles on this island. The one in the image below was on its own a lone stone high on a slope of moorland with cotton grass, it looked so Eerie and this feeling was sharpened by the presence of a curlew standing by the side of the stone, it too seemed as if it had been there for thousands of years standing guard over a mystery that may well never be known !
